Life after the reconnection of intestines

Hi, I'm back

to talk now about my experience at the end of chemo and the process of reconnecting the intestines ...

mid-September 2009 I had my last chemo session. Do not know what great happiness it generates. Thanks to Dr. Gilberto Morgan Villela de Onkos, for many the best oncologist in Mexico, and his entire staff of excellent nurses: Nena, Silvia, Sarita in these places makes all the difference, great professionals and great people. Although the skin was giving me some trouble, having the certainty that in a few weeks I was going to operate and take my bag, gave me much strength and hope. So is, remember that this is a disease of the body, but that how you feel depends a lot on your mind ... looking for that dream or illusion that keep them busy and alive!

My wife and I traveled to Monterrey to conduct a me PET (Positron Emission Tomography) again. See all my cousins \u200b\u200band feel his care and love was amazing. During the PET , we injected radioactive glucose and then they put you in a giant donates to scan the whole body. The cancer cells are always starved for glucose , so get all the radioactive glucose injected. When you take the photo, glucose radioactive paints tomography showing where the cancer cells but also cells that you are healing a wound or something. Remember that cancer cells are like the good cells that help to regenerate tissue and heal wounds, but they do if no order in places where the body does not need it, stunting vital organs.

PET went well, and everything was ready to proceed with the surgery ... The only drawback: time. The doctor asked me to wait at least 4 weeks after the last chemo. The optimum were 6 or more, to be well recovered, but I do not want to wait any longer.

Four weeks later, in mid October, I was on the plate ready for the last surgery. I confess, I was very scared. Fear that the bowel does not stick well and return to a Peritonitis. I did not think my body could stand again. I felt weak after a journey of almost a year because of illness ...

The surgery was a success, thanks to Dr. Alejandro González Ojeda and his excellent staff of doctors, who do not know, but they know me thoroughly after 3 surgeries!. After 6 hours of operation, the anesthesia had passed and I was awake and talking. No felt discomfort, everything went perfect! Do not know what a relief ... Now the next step, waiting with a lot of patience. Without food or water for several days. I do not remember how many were, but I think it was 5! Believe me, the fear of hunger pain I inhibited significantly, but the thirst was much more difficult to contain. A few days later, let me take sips of water ... Wow! what an experience!. A week or so I started drinking Ensure, little by little. That delight after so many days without food. Everything has its bright side, I lost some weight.

My doctor (and me ...) was in no hurry for me to eat solids, so they spent over 2 weeks (17 days I think) to start a soft diet. I started the diet soft, scared, but a much more certain that everything was fine now. The food was not very nice, everything had to be ground into porridge, quite unpleasant. Can you imagine a rich beef broth with vegetables ... all ground in a blender! When I served it seemed that the intestine had already processed, if you know what I mean, right?. Tip: The salecita mashed potatoes and a little butter is best for these cases. I give thanks that babies do not remember what they eat small ... 7 days and I could eat something a little stronger and so eat everything! Today I
